add spectrum - Windows 10

Hi,

I am using CARA (v1.9.1.4 ) on Windows 10. So far I didn't have any problems, but now I have realized that option Add spectrum is not working. When I try to add spectrum, the window with "Select Spectrum Files" open but I cannot enter any folders to excess files.
I tried the same thing on the Ubuntu computer and it's working perfectly so I think this is something related to Windows 10. Do you have any suggestions what to try to solve this?
I tried re-installing CARA but that didn't help.

Hi Jelena
Welcome to the forum. I don't have a Windows 10 installation and will now download a virtual machine version to try to reproduce the issue. Did you also try the same function with older CARA versions? Is it a general issue or only associated with CARA 1.9.1? What means "cannot enter any folders": do you see the folders but cannot open? Or don't you see folders at all?

Actually the same thing happens also on Windows 7. I tried even CARA alpha version and there is the same problem. I download also last stable release (1.8.4.2) but CARA stops responding/crashes while loading repository.

I see only home directory and "my computer" but when I click on it nothing happens (which means that I cannot enter any folder). When I try to select some other folder by selecting it on drop down menu in "Look in" also nothing happens.

That's strange. We did tests on Windows 7 and 8 and didn't see any problems. Are you working on a stand-alone machine or are the folders you try to access on a network server? Are you sure your account and the CARA executable have enough privileges to access these folders at all? I checked and it's not problem of privileges or where the files are stored. Even more strange is that I can open the spectra through the Tools - Open spectrum.

I think this is a bug maybe associated with my computer, however I haven't observed problems with any other program...

Ok. Let's do some tests. I developed a little test tool, which you can download from here: http://cara.nmr-software.org/download/FileDialogTestV1.zip
Please download and unzip it on the machine(s) where you experience the problem. Then push one of the five test buttons after the other, try to select a spectrum file in each file selector dialog, and tell me, in which case it worked or not. The selected file path is shown in the text box of the test tool.

Test 1 and 4 didn't work, the rest of them were ok.

Thanks for running the tests. As it seems the Qt 4.4 multi file selector doesn't work on all Windows 7/10 configurations. I replaced it by the native file selector. You can download the 1.9.1.5 version from the download section. The "Select Spectrum Files" function should now work on your machine. Please tell me, whether this applies.
